Have you, can you or do you re-use/recycle something in your home or garden?? Found a hard-rubbish gem lately that you have refashioned into something unique? Got an idea for all those tins/bottles/cartons you’ve been storing away for a rainy day that you can share?

No idea or use is too wild or wacky –, recycle it before March 20th, 2015, and send us a picture and caption via the site, of what you have done.

Jess came up with the recycling challenge in her last post and I thought I’d put it up as a separate post so the info is all in one place, including the details of the prize!

What to do: Submit your picture and caption on our Facebook page.  If you don’t use Facebook, please email with the subject “CFS Recycling Challenge”  (you will find the email address in the flyer or poster on the Downloads page) and I will post your entry to Facebook on your behalf.  You can submit as many ideas as you like as long as they are original.  The ideas could also have been implemented in the past but great ideas don’t go out of fashion.

When to do by: 20 March 2015 (extended to 20 April 2015)

We will shortlist 3 ideas and feature them for comments and votes.  The best idea will be decided upon, at the discretion of the judges. The winner will be announced on the website and will be contacted via email or Facebook. The prize will be presented at a swap meeting.  The lucky recycler/gardener will become the owner of signed copy of “Jackie French’s Guide to Companion Planting“.  Jackie French is not only the Senior Australian of the Year 2015 and the Australian National Children’s Laureate for 2014 and 2015, she’s also an avid gardener herself and the gardening books draw from her years of studying gardens, orchards and the bush.  The book discusses how and why companion planting works and how it can help soil fertility, the flowers, fruits, vegetables and much more.  It is a great companion to any gardener!  Thanks Jackie, for kindly donating this prize!

Terms and conditions: Croydon Food Swap reserves the right to postpone or cancel the competition.  We shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered, including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss, or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the challenge or any prize(s).
